The Furry Friends 5K will be taking place this May at Jefferson County Fair Park. Residents of Watertown may want to participate in this race, which will benefit the Humane Society of Jefferson County.
Such events often turn to banner printing throughout the community to encourage participation and support.
This is the second largest fundraiser for the humane society and will be the eighth year that the event is taking place. Community outreach coordinator with the humane society, Taylor Marshall, expressed excitement at being able to hold this event this year. There will also be dog agility runs and events with pet themes. Spectators will be able to cheer on the runners.
Proceeds from the walk and run go to support direct animal care and general operations of the shelter. There are also 50/50 raffles and a silent auction, the proceeds of which go to the special veterinary fund for animals coming to the shelter who need out-of-the-ordinary medical support.
Participants in the race will receive a medal and shirt, as well as swag Bags with coupons and gifts from sponsors like ice cream scoops, treats for pets, and water bottles. There will also be awards for the top finishers in each age category and in a special canine category.
The walk/run will take place on Saturday, May 22 beginning at 9:00 am.
