The construction season for 2025 in Watertown is now underway.
Local Print shops can create mailers with more information about such projects that can be sent to residents to keep them informed of any detours or traffic delays.
A major project that is being funded by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) is Western Avenue/S. First Street—E. Milwaukee Street to S. Third Street project. This project will improve drainage and the structure of the road while adding enhancements for safety and pedestrians.
There will also be several resurfacing projects that will be funded from both local and state resources. Among these will be Meadowbrook Drive to Beacon Drive and N. Fourth St. funded by the Local Road Improvement Program of the Wisconsin DOT; N. Fourth Street and Carl Schurz Dr. to STH 15; and W. Main Street and S. Monroe St. to S. Warren Street, the last two of which are locally funded overlay and mill projects.
Other resurfacing projects that are smaller include the plaza on Main Street. This will be upgraded and restored with a ramp that is ADA compliant to improve accessibility. The other project will be the resurfacing of the alleyway between Market and Main Streets, connecting Second and First Streets.
In addition, the state will be resurfacing State Highway 16 as part of a project that will construct a new roundabout at the intersection of State Highway 16 and E Main Street.
