A new space in downtown Watertown, the Bentzin Family Town Square, will soon be open to the public. The space will host water activities, outdoor concerts, and many other events over the summer.
The chairperson of the Watertown Redevelopment Authority, Nata Salas, said this was designed to be a world class gathering space where all kinds of people could gather and enjoy themselves. Salas has been the driving force of the project since the idea came to fruition close to 10 years ago under the administration of the former mayor of Watertown. Salas expressed his excitement about what the potential of the space could be for the community.
The Strategic Initiatives and Development Coordinator of Watertown, Mason Becker, said there had been some challenges to opening the space as some buildings had been in the area for many years, but the community saw the promise of the project revitalizing the riverfront and the downtown area and is excited about this development for the historic downtown.
Local Print shops can play a significant role in spreading the word about such developments with Flyers and Brochures that highlight improvements.
There will be a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the square this Saturday, May 20, with the ribbon cutting at 10:30 am and related events beginning at 11:00 am.
