New school leader takes charge in Watertown

Jared Burke is the new superintendent of the Watertown Unified School District (WUSD).

Such changes in administration often require the need for business card printing services.

Burke is from the Richland School District, where he was the district administrator for seven years. He has also served in the Mount Horeb Area School District as the director of curriculum and instruction, and in the Southwestern School District as an elementary and middle school principal.

Hazard, Young, Attea, and Associates is a search firm that was used by the district to fill the position. The firm developed a leadership profile from focus groups, interviews, online surveys, and forums which was then used by the Board of Education for assessing and interviewing candidates.

Tony Arnett, president of the WUSD Board, said that Dr. Burke was the ideal person for the schools, staff, students, and community of the district. Arnett added that Dr. Burke readily connects with individuals given his straight-forward communication style and has had a great deal of experience leading a school district with challenges very much like those facing the WUSD.

Burke expressed his enthusiasm about learning more about the students, staff, families, and the community, and about his future in Watertown. He believes the community and the district are committed to supporting students, and his leadership skills will complement the district.
