New fire station to come to Watertown

A new fire station will be built in Watertown.

Set west of the AbleLight Thrift Shop and just off South Church Street, the fire station will be on a piece of land that spans 7.6 acres. This location was found most appropriate to suit the needs of the town and the neighborhood for now and the future.

The new fire station will cover 37,268 square feet and will be two stories tall. The plan will enable the station to be expanded in the future as the new site will be able to accommodate growth.

There will be a remote training tower that will be 40 feet high and cover 1,017 square feet and a remote cold storage building that will be 25 feet high and cover 3,500 square feet. Public access to the building will be off Bernard Street with parking next to existing commercial properties.

The construction of the fire station will be masonry with a design that will be complimentary to the buildings in the area. There will be a great deal of use of natural daylighting and an energy-conscious design with improvements in safety, access, and security over the existing fire station.

More details about such projects, their impact, design, and costs can be provided with flyer printing.

The new fire station is expected to be operational in late 2024 or early 2025.
