Travis Teesch is the new chief of fire and emergency operations in Watertown, replacing Kraig Biefeld who recently retired.
Announcements of such new leaders and what they plan to do for the community are often made known with poster printing placed in key locations throughout the city.
Teesch has been Kaukauna’s assistant fire chief since August 1999. During this time, he was also a member of the State of Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services Advisory Board from 2003 until 2009, has been as an adjunct instructor at Fox Valley Technical College, and currently serves as secretary of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Division 127.
He attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where he received a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in fire and emergency response management. His master’s degree in administration is from the University of South Dakota. Additional certifications Teesch holds are in specialized areas of the fire service, including ice rescue, national incident management, and HAZMAT operation.
Watertown Police and Fire Commission President, Brad Kuenzi, noted that Teesch has relocated his family to Watertown and is passionate and enthusiastic about his new role. He added that Teesch will be great as a team member, mentor, and leader, and that the Commission expresses its pride in hiring Teesch as he will be ideal for the community and the department.
