Construction is almost completed on the Main Street Bridge in Watertown, and is expected to open later this month.

Work that still needs to be done before the opening includes marking of the pavement; installation of lighting and signage; installation of steel railings and concrete bridge parapets; and fine grading and asphalt paving of the approach roadways.
Once the bridge is opened, the contractor will continue some work in the area. This includes site restoration near the bridge, barge and equipment removal, concrete work around light poles, and general demobilization. This may cause some minor disruptions to traffic and limited parking next to the bridge until the work is completed.
The entire bridge, which crosses the Rock River, was replaced by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). Improvements by WisDOT included a new bridge structure; new concrete approach slabs; and a new concrete sidewalk, asphalt pavement, and lighting. The cost for rebuilding the bridge was close to $16 million.
The bridge is expected to open on the afternoon of Friday April 18 with pedestrian use of the sidewalks and vehicular traffic over the bridge. A ribbon cutting ceremony is being planned for the entire community in the coming weeks.
