Innovation comes to Watertown for Halloween

Watertown will be hosting several events for Halloween this year.

Melissa Lampe, Executive Director of the Main Street Program, said that celebrations will take place throughout the day from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. During that time, people will be able to pick up a ballot from the Chamber of Commerce Office on Main Street and then walk around the downtown area and the side streets and vote for the pumpkin which they feel is the best carved one in the windows of the businesses. Lampe said that the business which receives the greatest number of votes will win a prize.

There will be a Halloween Rock Hunt by the Watertown Rocks group. The hunt will be from First Street to the Sharp Corner Park along Main Street. Costumes are encouraged to be worn by children who will receive candy at the park. This event will be from 10:00 am until noon on Saturday, October 31.

A Light the Library event will be held by the Watertown Public Library. Patrons can check out a pumpkin as well as carving kits, as long as they are available, and return a jack-o-lantern. Pumpkins will be able to be checked out beginning Monday, October 26, and need to be returned to the Library by Saturday, October 31 at 1:00 pm.

Poster printing is often used throughout a city to advertise and promote such events.
