The Watertown Park and Recreation Department is hosting several festive events this holiday season.
The first is a gingerbread and house contest. The department will provide gingerbread house kits and deliver them to individual homes. The kits are $20 for residents of the city and $30 for non-residents. Participants need to build and decorate a gingerbread house and send in pictures of their creations to the department. Those of all ages are encouraged to join in the fun.
These projects will be carried out between Wednesday, December 23 and Sunday, January 3 with pictures due by Monday, January 4 at 8:00 am. Flyer printing is often used for providing more information about registering for such projects and contest entry rules and guidelines.
The department is also holding a Deck the House contest in Watertown, Cambridge, Whitewater, Fort Atkinson, Johnson Creek, and Jefferson. Those who wish to enter the contest need to submit a picture of their homes. People can tour the lights and vote on their favorite homes until Sunday, December 20. Each community’s top three winners will be announced the next day, with prizes to be awarded.
There is also winter family bingo. Those who register for this activity will receive a bingo sheet. When completed, these sheets can be sent to the department for a chance to win a parks and recreation gift certificate.
