Venue to host a unique bluegrass evening

For all bluegrass and Americana music lovers here in Madison, a band of local hometown talent will be featured at a free concert in a couple of weeks.

The MadPolecats will be bringing their version of Rastabilly Skunkgrass which is a sound that the group has developed by blending reggae, punk, and ska, and played on bluegrass instruments.

Guests will get to enjoy a cacophony of five singers who will be accompanied by banjo, bass guitar, washboard, ukulele, lap steel slide guitar, percussion, acoustic guitar, accordion, violin, drums, and trumpet. This nine-member family band does have a set list, but also has a propensity to improvise which makes every performance one of a kind.

Other upcoming bluegrass bands in this summer series will be Sparetime Bluegrass, Boo Bradley, Sortin’ the Mail, and Streel City Jug Slammers. Businesspeople may want to take their digital Business Cards with them in case they get the chance to do some networking during the evening. This concert series will continue to run through the middle of August.

The MadPolecats show is scheduled for Thursday, July 23, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on the Memorial Union Terrace at the University of Wisconsin, 800 Langdon Street, Madison. In case of rain, the event will be moved to Der Rathskeller, which is located inside the Memorial Union.
