The 44th Annual Crazylegs Classic is slated to come to Madison in late April.
Named after Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch, a University of Wisconsin athletic director and legendary athlete, this race will be a fundraiser for UW Athletics.
The 8k wheelchair, 8k run, and two-mile walk will begin at Library Mall, run down State Street, continue to Capitol Square, turn west, take runners through the tunnel at Camp Randall Stadium, and end on the stadium's turf. More than 10,000 participants are expected to attend.
Spectators, live music, and student groups will be lining State Street. Spectators and student groups at fundraisers like this often arrange banner printing beforehand to cheer their favorite runners on.
The 8k wheelchair race will begin at 9:50 am followed by the 8k run at 10:00 am. The two-mile walk will begin at 10:20 am. The after-party will feature the Foo Foo Dolls and amenities will include sponsor tents, concessions, team photo areas, and special areas set up for families to meet after the race. Registration for the 8ks and the two-mile walk will range from $35 to $50 depending on registration date.
Swag will include Crazylegs T-Shirts, race bibs, and one non-alcoholic post-race beverage.
This year's Crazylegs Classic will begin and end on the UW- Madison Campus, at the intersection of N. Lake Street and State Street on Saturday, April 25 at Liberty Mall, 800 State Street.
