Three programs remain this year for Madison orchestra

The Madison Symphony Orchestra (MSO) still has another three programs on its 2021, including one taking place next weekend.

“Ravishing Rhapsody,” an evening of Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini,” will be played by Russian pianist Olga Kern. The MSO, led by John DeMain, will perform Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, “Eroica.”

Performances will be next Friday to Sunday, October 15 to 17.

In November, “Grand Panorama” will feature Ferde Grofe’s Grand Canyon Suite with projected imagery accompaniment. Cellist Thomas Mesa will play Antonin Dvorak’s Cello Concerto and the concert will continue with two Madison premieres - “Lyric for String Orchestra” by George Walker and “Rugby” by Arthur Honegger.

This will be presented over the weekend of Friday, November 12 to Sunday, November 14.

Finally, 300 artists will be ushering in the holiday season with “A Madison Symphony Christmas.” Guests are invited to show up 50 minutes before each concert to join in carol singing in the lobby.

Along with the MSO, the program will include the Madison Symphony Chorus, Mount Zion Gospel Choir, and Madison Youth Choirs. The soloists for the evening will be soprano Elizabeth Caballero and tenor Jared Esguerra.

Madison Symphony Christmas will perform on December 3rd to 5, which again covers a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

All programs will take place at 7:30 pm on the Friday, 8:00 pm on the Saturday, and 2:30 pm on the Sunday. Businesses often sponsor events like these so they can have their Logo Design placed in the programs.
