State Fair just weeks away

The Dane County Fair is nearly upon us, with Madison once again playing host to the family friendly event. As always, the fair will include animal activities, a plethora of food, entertainment, and carnival rides.

Event activity times can be found on the State Fair web page, and each day will have a theme. Wednesday will be about dogs (training, general information, daycare, etc.), Thursday will have military focused events, Friday will be all about kids, Saturday will be about farming, and Sunday will have a spiritual tone. Headlining performers will take center stage on Wednesday (Madison County), Thursday (Flyleaf), Friday (Kat Deluna), and Jordin Sparks on Saturday.

There will also be specials every day, such as an opportunity to go on as many rides as possible for half a day for just $27, and a Pepsi ride. Those that plan to attend may want to take a lot of pictures for later use in poster printing, especially at night with all the lights.

The Fair will be held at Alliant Energy Center, downtown Madison, 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, running from Wednesday, July 15 through Sunday, July 19. Entry prices this year will be $8 for a one-day pass, and $20 for a season pass. For those aged six to eleven, the prices will be $3 and $6, and it will be free for those aged five and under. Ticket prices for rides will be variable, but parking will be free.
