Madison locals have no doubt been waiting for this year’s Taste of Madison, where a huge number of restaurants downtown open their doors to hungry visitors eager to take advantage of specials being offered.
There will also be music, of course, on three different stages, offering country, rock or R&B artists.
Taste of Madison has been held for 33 years, offering patrons food, entertainment, and of course fun. This year, more than 80 restaurants (the entire list and their offerings can be viewed on the event website) will be participating and approximately a quarter of a million people are expected to attend. Attendees will also be able to participate in choosing ‘Best of Taste’ and may want to take pictures for later postcard printing.
The festival is free, and meal prices vary from $1 to $4, depending on the place of business. The idea is to sample food at many establishments. There will be no charge for attending any of the music events. Parking will, of course, be limited so attendees are strongly encouraged to take public transportation or make the journey on foot.
A Taste of Madison will be held downtown over the Labor Day weekend, with Saturday, September 5’s fun running from 2:00 pm to 8:30 pm, and things continuing on Sunday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, centered around the State Capital building at 2 E MainSt, Madison.
