Runners gear up for Crazylegs Classic

More than 12,000 runners are expected to turn out for the 40th Annual Crazylegs Classic coming to downtown Madison at the end of April.

Swag will include Crazylegs Under Armour Locker T-Shirts sporting this year’s graphic design, race bibs with an on-course timing chip, and a post-race party.

Along with the traditional race, the event will offer a two-mile walk, an 8K run/wheelchair walk, and two-mile and 8K Fun and Fitness walks. In these untimed walks, teams of at least 10 members participate and receive early gear pickup times and special event hats. Over 30 teams are actively recruiting members on the event’s website.

Registration for the 8K run/walk is $40, $45 for the Fun and Fitness 8K Run/Walk, $30 for the two-mile walk, and $35 for the two-mile Fun and Fitness Walk.

Course marshals will be positioned along the course, and paramedics will be patrolling on bikes.

Runners will begin lining up on Library Mall on State Street and N. Lake Street in downtown Madison on Saturday, April 30 ,with 8K wheelchair participants leaving the starting line at 10:10 am and 8K runners taking off at 10:15 am.

Walkers for the two-mile will begin at 9:50 am before the runners. Wave markers will indicate “Casual Walkers,” “Speed Walkers,” and “Walkers with Accessories” (those participants with baby joggers, strollers or wagons).

The finish line will take participants through the Camp Randall Arch at the Camp Randall Stadium.
