Madison locals are set to be entertained by dancers from Riverdance and Magic of the Dance, as they come to the Overture Center for the Arts this month.
Attendees should get ready for an evening of music, storytelling and dance leading the way to happy holiday season. Kevin Horton, star of Riverdance, the traveling music and dance show, will be joined by Ciaran Maguire and Collette Dunne, stars of the follow-up Magic of the Dance. They will all be performing jigs and other dances to traditional Irish tunes.
Music will be provided by the Kerry Trad Orchestra, and the theme for the evening will be the traditional celebration of the holidays in Ireland. Instruments synonymous with the country will played as part of the performance, with contributions by players on uilleann pipes (a type of bagpipe), flutes, fiddles, accordions, and bodhráns (hand drums). Attendees are encouraged to bring their best camera for picture taking, perhaps for later posting printing.
The music and dance for the evening will follow themes, from mythology, folklore, and embellished yarns; all connected in one way or another to the theme of love.
The performance will be held at the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison on Friday, November 14, starting at 8:00 pm. Ticket prices range from $25 to $55, depending on seating, which is limited, so ordering tickets early is recommended.
