Marathon runners to get on their marks

For Madison runners, it’s time to get in shape for Madison Marathon Events. Coming up near the end of the month, the events promise to be both competitive and exciting.

Every year, the city of Madison holds Marathon Events, offering two days of marathon running in multiple races that are fun for both those that run and those that come out to support them.

This year, there will be a half marathon run, a 5K race, a 1K race, another called “conquer the capital”, and a kids’ race. All races will start at Capital Square in downtown Madison, and the streets will be clearly marked (and closed to traffic) so runners will know where to go. Times vary for the races, but a schedule can be obtained at the event website along with other useful information such as medical advice and instructions on how to participate. Families, or other sponsors, may want to have banner printing done to support their runner at the end of the course.

The Madison Marathon Events help to raise thousands of dollars every year for donation to charitable organizations. This year, beneficiaries are Badger Honor Flight and My Team Triumph – Wisconsin. Those who wish to donate can do so when they register online, or by Mailing a check.

Marathon Events will run all day Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24.
