Madison will be Wearin o the Green for St. Patricks Day

Everyone will surely be wearing green to the 23rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in March.

The parade will begin at the intersection of E. Mifflin and N. Pinckney. Marching groups are to begin check-in at 11:30 am and get into place at 12:30 pm. The parade will march around Madison’s Capitol Square going counterclockwise and leave the square at East Washington Avenue.

Sean Patrick, the local Leprechaun, will be at the parade again this year. He will also be available for pre-St. Patrick’s Day events and parties. He has been raising funds for his Logan’s Heart Smiles Foundation, an organization which constructs wheelchair ramps for disabled Madison residents.

The festivities will begin at noon in the Capitol Rotunda as the Dane County Shamrock Club raises the Irish flag.

The raffle drawing will be at 1:20 pm at the corner of Mifflin and Wisconsin. This year’s grand prize will be a trip for two to County Cork Ireland. Some lucky couple will get roundtrip airfare, car rental and $500 to spend, in addition to a week in an ocean-side modern cottage. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at LJ’s Sports Tavern, Sokol Eye Care and Essential Family Vision Care.

The 2020 collector’s edition poster is still in the poster-printing stage, but will be available in plenty of time before parade day.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place Sunday, March 15th at 1:30 pm.
