Madison runs wild

At the end of September, the Henry Vilas Zoo will be holding its annual Run Wild 5K and 10K Run/Walk to raise funds for its operational needs and programs. The run will also include a Wild Child Run.

“Who Are You Running For?” graphic design T-Shirts will be complimentary with registration. Finisher medals await those reaching the finish line. Both the 5K and the 10K will be chip-timed.

Since this is a fundraising event, individual runners and teams are encouraged to enter the fundraising challenge. Prizes will go to the top three individuals and teams that bring in the most money. Anyone referring over four participants will receive a refund on their registration fees.

Kids in the Wild Child Fun Run will get to choose either full-mile and half-mile distances. These races will not be timed and participants with jogging strollers can start in the back of the pack. All runners are invited to stay after to see the animals and enjoy refreshments.

Race packets can be picked up at Fleet Feet Middleton on Thursday, September 26 and at Fleet Feet Sun Prairie on Friday, September 27 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, as well as at the zoo before the race.

The race starts Sunday, September 29 at the zoo, located at 702 S. Randall Avenue. Both run/walks will begin at 8:00 am and go until noon. The Wild Child Fun Run will start at 10:30 am and will also be over by noon.
