Many here in Madison will be freezing more than their assets when they attend the family-friendly, free Clean Lakes Alliance 13th Frozen Assets Festival coming in early February.
The festival day will start with the Frozen Assets 5k Run/Walk, a race/walk done completely on the Lake Mendota ice, with check-in from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. Swag will include soft T-Shirts and drinks after the race/walk.
Proceeds will go to support programs and initiatives that improve and protect or lakes' water quality.
The run/walk will begin at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at the Edgewater, 1001 Wisconsin Place.
The Snow Sailing World Championships will be part of the 2025 Frozen Asset Festival. Viewing may be done either from Lake Mendota or the Edgewater Madison February 3rd through the 8th.
Usually, freebies at the festival include hot chocolate, ice skating and skate rental, a Slapshot inflatable game, and winter craft stations.
Activities will include a winter workout, science lectures; water, ballet and figure skating demonstrations, and movies shown in the Grand Ballroom.
Organizations that hold large multiple-day events like this often have pictures taken during the event. These photos then go to local Print shops to become part of the organization's fundraising campaign for the next year.
The Clear Lakes Alliance Frozen Assets 2025 Festival will be held February 8th, 2025, at the Edgewater Madison from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Kites on Mendota will be Sunday, February 9th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
