Madison dedicates a week to bikes

Madison will be celebrating Madison Bike Week during the first week in June.

The Sundays before and after Bike Week will begin with rides to the Monroe Street Farmers Market in the Edgewood High School parking lot at 2219 Monroe Street. On the Monday, there will be a one-hour ride with Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway.

Cyclists can pick up Dane County and Fitchburg bicycle paths and trails maps and enjoy bagels, and coffee at 4789 Crescent Road on Tuesday. Other events that day will include a class in How to Plan a Bicycle Commute and a Family Learn to ride.

Wednesday's events will include coffee and bagels, a discussion on Madison's future, an ice cream social and the Bike Carnival.

Thursday's riders may choose coffee and pastries at Commuter Station, or bacon and bratcakes on the Bike Path in the morning. They can also join the out-and-back 27-mile Fetch the Keg Ride from Paoli to Hop Garden in Brittingham Park, beginning at 5:30 pm.

Friday's itinerary will include an E-Bike Ride Lunch Bunch and a party in Brittingham Park.

Saturday's lineup includes West Side infrastructure tour, Family Cycling Show and Share, and a Ready to Roll. Finally, Sunday’s events will include a Brews Cruise, Delta Beer Lab, and a Ride with the Pack, to which dogs are invited.

People who support biking events like these often get their flyer printing done in advance and put Flyers throughout their neighborhoods.

Madison Bike Week will run from June 1 through 8.
