Madison community welcomes spring with music festival

The 36th annual Marquette Waterfront Festival will be ushering in Madison's eastside summer music season in mid-June.

National touring acts and local talent will perform on two stages during the two-day festivities. Wine. craft beer and food will be available for purchase. Games and fun for children will include the 100-yard Dandelion Dash on Saturday beginning at 11:30 am.

A Vendor Village will offer attendees the chance to meet local vendors and buy unique items.

Even if festival goers do not buy anything at event vendor markets, many do collect business cards from those sellers whose merchandise they particularly enjoy.

Many "fools" will be bringing their own boats to Tenney Park in order to join others in floating down the Yahara River as part of Fools' Flotilla. Many participants will also bring Personal Floating Devices, decorate their crafts, kayaks, canoes and paddleboards and wear costumes.

Although the event will be free, boaters need to register themselves and crew members and sign safety agreements beforehand either online or at the event. Those who register on or before Thursday, June 12th will be entered in a raffle to win a River Alliance of Wisconsin t-shirt. Spectators are welcome.

The flotilla will take place rain or shine at the Tenney Park locks beginning at 10:30 am, Sunday, June 15th and end at the park itself.

The Marquette Waterfront Festival will be taking place June 14th and 15th at Yahara Place Park, 2025 Yahara Place.
