The Edgewater and Clean Lakes Alliance will hold its Sixth Annual Frozen Assets Festival the second week in February.
On Saturday, February 8, Funny Faces Family Entertainment will be offering face painting, and Keva Sports Center will sponsor pond hockey. The Wisconsin Kiters Club will have a display of “Kites on Mendota.” There will be curling demonstrations and the Madison Capitols will get up a hockey slapshot game. Although ice skating will be free, skate rental will be $3.
After Lake Mendota sleigh rides out on the ice, guests can sip on hot chocolate and roast s’mores back on shore. Snowshoeing will available thanks to Rutabaga Paddlesports. All of these activities will be free.
Also, UW Center for Limnology will have an ice science lab from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. Central Midwest Ballet will have performances at 10:30 am and 2:30 pm. Bucky Badger will be around from noon until 1:00 pm when Figure Skating Club of Madison will have its performance. At 2:00 pm, the Breakthrough Dance Company will take the stage.
Local business professionals will be taking their updated Business Cards to Ice Thaw Networking, which will be from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on February 6.
The Sixth Annual Frozen Assets Festival will be from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at the Edgewater on Lake Mendota on February 2 to 8. Proceeds will go to the upkeep and preservation of the areas lakes.
