The 22nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day festivities are coming to Madison this weekend.
Festivities will begin with Shamrock Shuffle 2019 coming Saturday, March 16th. This run raises thousands of dollars for Dane County’s Boys and Girls Club. The course will begin at the intersection of State Street and Frances Street. The 10k will start at 8 am and the 5k will begin at 8:15 am. Entrants in either race will receive long-sleeve T-Shirts with the event’s graphic design on the front.
The parade will step off the following afternoon Sunday March 17th at 1:30 pm at the intersection of E. Mifflin Street and N. Pickney. Charlie Berens is this year’s Grand Marshall; the Wall family will be the “Irish Family of the Year”; and Joe Herr will march again this year as “Sean Patrick”, the Leprechaun. All proceeds will go to Logan’s Heart and Smiles, GiGi’s Playhouse, and Carbone Cancer Center.
If anyone wants to spread the information around town, a small official poster can be downloaded and taken to local Print shops for poster printing.
This year’s St. Patrick’s Day raffle 1st prize will be a trip to County Cork Ireland where a couple will stay in a modern cottage for a week. The prize includes $500, car rental and roundtrip airfare.
The Irish flag will be raised at noon, and the raffle drawing will take place at 1:20 pm at the corner of Mifflin and Wisconsin.
