Frozen Assets Festival returns

Madison’s Clean Lake Alliance will be holding its annual Frozen Assets Festival to raise funds for water quality monitoring, educational programming, and improvement projects in early February.

Pre-festival events include a VIP fundraiser on Saturday, January 27 from 8:00 pm to midnight at the Edgewater, and a Clean Lake 101 Science Café in the Grand Ballroom from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, January 29.

The festival’s Frozen Assets 5k Run/Walk course will start at The Edgewater and cross Lake Mendota ice, with a view of the University of Wisconsin-Madson Campus and downtown Madison. In-person participant registration will be $45 before the event or $55 on race day, and virtual participation will be $60. Swag will include T-Shirts sporting the event’s graphic design.

Frozen Assets 5K Run/Walk will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 3 at The Edgewater and Lake Mendota.

Wisconsin Kiter’s Club will hold an LED Kites on Mendota Night Fly at dusk on both the evening before and the evening of the all-day 2024 Frozen Assets Festival. The daytime Kites on Mendota will fly over the lake from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on the Saturday, and from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on the Sunday.

The festival will feature pond hockey, snowshoeing, ice skating, free hot chocolate, science and activity stations, and slapshot inflatable games.
