Bach Around the Clock, celebrating J.S. Bach’s birthday, has been scheduled for five days in mid-March.
The opening day will kick off with Just Bach, a monthly concert series, at noon at Luther Memorial. At 6:00 pm, harpsicord specialist Tami Morse and assistant artistic director and concertmaster of Madison Bach Musicians Kangwon Kim will give a presentation discussing whether period instruments are needed to play the music of the German Baroque period composer.
Day two will begin at 3:30 pm with a live performance of Coffee Cantata performed by faculty and music students from UV-Whitewater. From 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, intermediate and advanced piano students are invited to a master class at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, conducted by Lawrence Quinnett, Assistant Professor of Piano and Music Theory at Livingstone College.
For the Friday, pianist Lawrence Quinnett will be playing Partitas #1 and #2 at the Noon Musicale presented by Madison’s First Unitarian Society.
Saturday sees Quinnett return to play Partitas #3 and #4 at a festival held at Andrew’s Episcopal Church, beginning at 10:00 am. He will be followed by A Chorale Sing-Along at 11:00 am and Organ Works at 11:30 am. At 12:30 pm, Quinnett will perform Partitas #5 and #6 and other musicians are invited to sign up and perform beginning at 1:15 pm.
Sunday will be virtual, with workshops, festival recordings, conversations, and interviews.
Back Around the Clock will be from March 16 to 20. Music festivals often get flyer printing arranged to get the word out.
