County fair coming in July

This year’s Dane County Fair is slated for mid-July.

Admission tickets include concerts, animals on display in the Arena Building and the pavilions, carnival specials, stunt shows, youth exhibits, shopping and food vendors, and activities related to the daily themes.

New activities will include Community and Youth performances, carnival rides, Sneak-A-Peak (early admission to the carnival rides), and Rockstars in the Ring (a livestock show for intellectual disabled youth).

Free entertainment will include three performances daily by Lady Houdini. This skilled illusionist, magician, and escape artist rivals Harry Houdini in the Water Torture Cell illusion. The Kiddie Farm in Learning Lane in the New Holland Pavilion 2 will feature baby animals in its free interactive area. The KidBuck Game Show will also be free. There will be three performances each day for kids to compete in physical, clever, challenging, entertaining games.

Animal judging will be done daily and classrooms will feature topics such as animal nutrition and safety. Thursday’s line up will include patriotic ribbon giveaways, flag ceremonies, care packages for troops and roller derby.

Friday will be Kids Day with interactive activities. Saturday will be Farm Fresh Day and Sunday will be Family Fiesta Day. Families that take a lot of kids to events such as this often wear look-alike colorful tee-shirts sporting a family crest or graphic design.

The Dane County Fair will take place July 16th through July 19th at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
