A special event that brightens up the winter months is coming back to Kenosha.
The Snow Daze Festival is an annual event that brightens up a cold Saturday. During the festival, attractions, shops, restaurants, and other businesses welcome visitors to Downtown Kenosha where they can enjoy the fresh winter air, shop at local stores, and see the ice sculptures. The 2025 festival is still being finalized, but a look back at the 2024 event shows what people can expect.
Organizers said the 2024 festival was the best attended yet, and the highlight was the 64 ice sculptures that were on display. Maz Zuleta, who is with Art Below Zero, a company that provides ice sculptures for events of all kinds in the region, said the sculptures were what brought people downtown. Some businesses added to the fun by offering free hot chocolate to families and children, while others held raffles.
In many cases, there was a direct tie between the sculpture and the business. For instance, last year a shop called Total Cyclery had a bicycle ice sculpture in front of the store. Jan Merrick, the store owner’s aunt, said he has always had a sculpture there, adding the festival is a boost to small businesses.
This year’s Snow Daze Festival is scheduled for January 25 throughout Downtown Kenosha. This type of event is the perfect place for people to pick up Business Cards from local merchants.
