A traditional German festival is coming to Kenosha. The city’s version of Oktoberfest will be held in Petrifying Springs Park.
The Biergarten plans to celebrate with a pretzel eating contest, a stein hosting competition for men and women, delicious German food, additional food trucks, traditional German games, a Mr. and Mrs. Oktoberfest contest, bounce houses for the kids, and authentic German bier they plan to import from Munich. Among the bier they are bringing to Kenosha are Hacker Pschorr and Paulaner.
In addition, there will be live music. The bands this year are the Big Style Brass Band, which plays at 6.00 pm Friday; Totally Neon, appearing at 6.00 pm Saturday; and The Brothers Quinn, who will play at 3.00 pm Sunday. The Big Style Brass Band is a party band based in Milwaukee; Totally Neon plays the pop hits of the ‘80s that get people onto the dance floor; and The Brothers Quinn, a four-person folk group plays various genres including blues, country, bluegrass and Irish.
For convenience, organizers are making a shuttle available. It will run from parking lots at Upper JR directly to the Biergarten.
This year’s Oktoberfest is scheduled for three days, September 13, 14, and 15. Everyone is welcome and there is no admission charge. The park is at 5555 7th Street. Outdoor events like this can be enhanced when planners use banner printing to create themed decorations.
