An upcoming event promises food, fun, and the blues.
The Jazz, Rhythm & Blues Festival 2022, which features saxophonist Richard Elliot, is on the schedule for Kenosha. The event will be held at Harbor Park, a 69-acre green space on the lakefront. Music is the centerpiece of the day, but cooking is featured as well.
A mock kitchen will be set up so aspiring chefs and local foodies can learn secrets in the “Cooking Studio.” The demonstrations will be interactive.
Live music will be played all day, with special guests this year the Chicago Blues genius The Mike Wheeler Band, DJ Tony Lane “Steppin for Academic Excellence,” and R&B legend Lady A. Previous guest artists have included names like David Benoit, Alex Bugnon, Ramsey Lewis, and Paul Taylor.
In addition to the music and food, there will be a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and a “Wine Pull.” Raffle prizes include tickets to the Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls games, and a Milwaukee Bourbon Tasting experience.
All proceeds from the festival will go to the Mahone Fund, which is dedicated to providing educational opportunities to academically and economically deserving young people. The Fund also supports initiatives for healthy lifestyles in communities of color.
The festival is on Saturday, August 20, with the gates opening at 12:00 pm. The cooking demonstrations begin at 1:00 pm to kick things off. Attendees at events with many performers enjoy having schedules, which organizers can create using flyer printing.
