A special event is on the schedule in Kenosha.
The Cosmic Railroad Masquerade Ball will be held at the Lakeside Players at the Rhode Center for the Arts. The Players are a non-profit community theater founded in Kenosha in 1973. The organization owns the Center, which offers two art galleries and two venues for performances. The troupe performs a full season of musicals, dramas, and comedies on its Mainstage.
Cosmic Railroad first got together in the late 1990s in south-eastern Wisconsin. According to rumors, all the members were working in other bands who often found themselves playing the same gigs. Sometimes, after the show, all the bands would get together and jam, bringing a lot of instrumentalists and vocalists together. These informal mass jam sessions led to the creation of the Cosmic Railroad.
At first, Cosmic Railroad covered a lot of songs from groups like Phish, Grateful Dead, and others, then they began to learn one another’s songs so they did not always have to do covers. Finally, they stopped performing cover tunes and concentrated on their own style, leading to today’s Cosmic Railroad. They are a true jam band, playing what they feel like on any given night, meaning the concerts are never the same twice.
The ball is set for May 13, starting at 7:30 pm. The Lakeside Players are at 514 56th Street. Events like this can be publicized if organizers use flyer printing to create advertising handouts.
