Kenosha gets ready for Halloween

Kenosha Halloween devotees will be gearing up for Halloween with October hiking and haunting events.

Kenosha County Teen Task Force of the Concerned Citizens Coalition will once again present its annual Kemper Haunted House. During Kiddie Hour, the lights will be on for the little ones for an hour in the evening.

Kemper Haunted House will be in full array at the Kemper Center 6501 3rd Street during the Fridays and Saturdays of October 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, and 31. Friday’s hours are 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm and Saturday’s will be 6:00 pm until 11:00 pm.

A not-so-scary Eco-Halloween Hike will take place at the Richard Bong State Recreation Area. The family-friendly half-hour hikes will have characters along the way. Jack-o-lanterns, campfires, crafts, games and skits will take place during the evening. Guests will want to get to the site between 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm on October 17.

Eco-Halloween Hikes will start at Shelter #1. The Center is located at 26313 Burlington Road, Kansasville.

Groups taking children on hikes sometimes get colorful T-Shirts printed at local Print shops so they can spot the little ones if they stray.

A somewhat scarier event will be the Candlelight Halloween Hike. This one will take place at night at Bristol Wood Park. Guests will be given candles for the self-guided walk. The event requires pre-registration.

The Candlelight Halloween Hike will be October 30 and 31 at the Pringle Nature Center, 9800 160th Avenue, Bristol.
