Many runners here in Janesville will be lacing up for two charity events, with one coming at the end of September and the other at the beginning of October.
Rachel’s Race for Long QT Syndrome will be 5k and 10k races along scenic roads while the one-mile walk will take place entirely on Skelly Farm. Family activity stations will be dotted along the walk.
The event has been organized to raise funds for LQTS, which is an inherited primary arrhythmia syndrome, and will aid education, research, and early detection of the condition.
Registration for all races is $29 each. All races will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, September 23 at 2713 Haynes Road.
The other race fundraiser will be the Das Boot Run/Walk supporting ECHO, a non-profit meeting the emergency needs of low-income families. Participants are asked to bring items to fill the truck.
The 1.13-mile walk ($20) will begin in Courthouse Park, proceed down S Main Street, cross Rock River, and walk north on S River Street, before recrossing the river at W Court Street to return to the park.
The 3.56-mile Das Boot Run ($35) will begin at the Janesville YMCA, go south on S River Street, return on South Main Street and end at Downtown Janesville Festival Street Farmers’ Market at 65 S. River Street.
Organizations that hold charity events like these often take pictures of the events to local Print shops to be added to the following year’s advertising.
Das Boot Run/Walk will take place Saturday, October 14.
