Many Janesville athletes are looking forward to the second running of The Run the Rock Marathon coming toward the end of April.
The event will offer three distances. The Full Marathon will cost $75 and will start at 7:00 am; the ½ Marathon will cost $50 and begin at 7:30 am, and the 5K will cost $25 and start at 8:00 am. Prices will go up after March 31, when the Full Marathon registration will be $100, the ½ Marathon $70, and the 5K $40.
Participants will receive finisher medals sporting this year’s graphic design and awards will go to the first-place female and male finishers in each of the three distances. Results will be posted on the event’s website.
Volunteers will be needed for check-in, aid stations, crossing guards and finish line.
Both marathon events will begin at the Velocity Multi-Sport & Cycling, 1327 N Wright Road parking lot and end at the SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital parking lot. The total ascent for the ½ Marathon will be 239 feet and the total descent will be 238 feet, while the Full Marathon will have 446 feet total ascent and 444 total descent.
Run the Rock will take place Saturday, April 23. Runners will be contacted in the event of the starting line being moved to downtown Janesville.
