The US’s oldest fair, the Rock County 4-H Fair, will be returning to Janesville later this month.
Local youth will be demonstrating their talents from the horse and pony show on Saturday, July 16, from food, floral, field crops, computers, knitting, and swine on opening day to drawing, baking, animal husbandry, and the Mater Showman Contest on closing day.
Winners often have pictures taken of themselves and their winning entries. These photos usually go to local Print shops for duplicates to be sent to family and friends.
The Block Building will feature the Faircrow contest on Sunday, July 24 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and programs including a quilt contest and science sessions on Tuesday, July 26. Veterinary Science will be on Thursday, July 28.
North American Midway Entertainment will provide a carnival featuring rides, games, and food, running every day of the fair.
Daytime entertainment will include goat, duck, and pig races, as well as puppies of Penzance, lumberjack shows, and an interactive lumberjack camp.
Programs on the Main Stage will include outdoor movies, the RichRath Project, Craig Morgan Show, Uncle Kracker Show, Charlie Berens and Big League Bullriding. Some other special events will be a farmers’ market, family bingo, and a vintage car show. The final day will have a bike ride for kids, tractor pull, pedal pull, and pie auction.
The Rock County 4-H Fair will run from July 26 through 31 at the Fairgrounds 1301 Craig Avenue.
