In just a few days’ time, men and other supporters in Janesville will put on high heels and walk a mile to end domestic violence.
The YWCA’s Rock County 2015 'Walk a Mile in Her Shoes' hopes to raise awareness for domestic violence. The event is a fundraiser for the YWCA domestic violence shelter, an organization dedicated to ending violence and racism while providing services for victims of abuse. The one-mile walk will begin at the Pontiac Convention Center and go through a local neighborhood.
Registration is free but required. Walkers are encouraged to collect donations.
After the walk, there will be a party and dinner reception with a live and silent auction, cash bar, and contests. Tickets cost $30. It’s likely a Stationery printing service was asked to create tickets and programs for the event.
Those who raise $50 in donations will get into the reception free of charge. Those who raise $250 will be given two free tickets. Raising $1,000 in pledges gets eight reception tickets along with the group's name on the event Signs and programs. There are additional incentives available too.
The event takes place on August 14, beginning with registration and shoe fittings at 4:00 pm. The walk kicks off at 5:30 pm. Finally, the reception will take place from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
