Janesville to celebrate Memorial Day at three locations

To honor its local servicemen and women, Janesville will be holding three commemorations.

Two ceremonies will be at local cemeteries, and the third will be the annual Memorial Day Parade.

Oak Hill Cemetery will have a short ceremony in its veterans’ section in the morning. Members of the VFW Post 1621 will be presenting the colors and giving the presentation, and will also be giving a short talk half an hour later at the Milton Lawns Memorial Park and Chapel Mausoleum.

As well as this, the city is once again hosting its annual Memorial Day Parade. Members of the National Guard and veterans will be marching with local high school bands. The parade will start at the corner of High Street and Milwaukee Street. It will march down Milwaukee Street and will end in Traxier Park. The Janesville VFW Club will be serving a luncheon after the parade. No doubt banner printing will play a role as parade participants look to make themselves and their cause identifiable.

Oak Hill Cemetery is located at 1725 N Washington Street, with the presentation starting at 8:00 am going until 9:00 am.The Milton Lawns Memorial Park is at 2200 Milton Avenue, Janesville with its presentation starting at 9:30 am and going until 10:00 am. The parade and ceremony will begin at 11:00 am and end at 1:00 pm.
