The Janesville Performing Arts Center will be presenting its annual Folk at 408, an education and outreach fundraiser.
This event coincides with Local Talent Month, and its purpose is to showcase musicians from the state’s singer/songwriter communities.
This year, the program will have performances by Seasaw (a female duo that has roots in folk music and ventures into indie-rock and pop), Listening Party (a male folk/Americana trio from Milwaukee that combines soulful vocals, storytelling and pulsating rhythms into a unique acoustic musical style), Simon Balto (a folk balladeer), and Paul Otteson (singing his ‘February Fables’).
Other performers will be Hayward Williams (singing Americana, alt-country, rock, and folk), Lost Lakes (winner of two 2012 Madison Area Music Association’s awards for best folk/Americana album and best male vocalist), and Whitney Mann (who writes her own songs and plays lead guitar).

Proceeds will go to support those local musicians who are having financial difficulties. This support will be in the form of scholarships that will allow them to experience the local art programs available through the ‘Arts for Everyone’ scholarship program.
The evening will be January 28 at the Janesville Performing Arts Center, 408 S. Main Street here in Janesville. Performances will begin at 7:00 pm and will go until 10:00 pm. Adult tickets will be $15, and students can claim a $5 discount.
