Janesville rocks out at triathlon

Athletes in Janesville can take part in the city’s upcoming 6th annual ‘Rock ‘n Roll’ triathlon.

The event consists of a half-mile swim in Rock River and a 14-mile scenic bicycle ride through the countryside. The race will end with a 5K run that starts and ends at Traxler Park and goes through both downtown Janesville and the area’s historic district.

For the aquatic part, participants must wear swim caps, and safety boats and lifeguards will be along the course. The bike ride is an open course, and helmets and chin straps must be worn at all times for this portion of the event.

Registration costs $70 or $130 for teams. It includes a T-shirt and a finisher’s medal while supplies last.

Awards will be given out to the top three male and female finishers in each age bracket and overall. There will also be several other awards.

Early packet pickup will take place tomorrow, June 12. from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Traxler Park Pavilion. It is likely that printing companies were used to make these informational packets for the race.

Event day registration, body marking, and chip pickup starts at 5:00 am on Saturday, June 13. The triathlon kicks off at 7:00 am. Traxler Park is located on 600 North Main Street. For more information, call 608-754-2286.
