Janesville library gets into spirit with Halloween ball

Janesville's Hedberg Public Library Foundation will be presenting its 15th annual A Night at the Library: Creatures Ball in mid-October.

Guests are to come dressed in their ghoulish formalwear and many will be entering the Danse Macabre Competition to get the Centennium Cup and bragging rights for the coming year. It is said that anyone that possessing the cup will be protected from hunters, curses and death for a hundred years. Drinking from it will make the person ageless.

Attendees may also enjoy participating in the Mingle Murder Mystery game. Characters in the mystery will include the victim Carlus- a vampire, and suspects: Gossamer-a beautiful ancient fairy, Lew - a guy who becomes a wolf, Patty Opus - a slowly deteriorating female looking for a cure, and three witches. Other players will be the witnesses - a zombie Rot N Bodie, and Weeping Wilma a ghost.

Proceeds from the evening will go to support services and programs not included in the library's budget.

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased on the event's website or at the door.

Sponsorships are available for $250, $500, $1000, $2500 and $5000. Those at the $500 level and above need to get their Logo Design to the organizer as soon as possible to ensure that it is submitted before the banner printing gets done.

Creatures Ball will take place Saturday, October 19th beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hedberg Public Library, 316 South Main Street.
