Janesville gardeners ready for spring at workshops

Janesville gardening enthusiasts will get a few opportunities to attend gardening workshops in February.

Three workshops will be presented at Hyatt Smith Hall, 2909 Kellogg Avenue on Saturday, February 1 from 8:40 am until noon. Mark Dwyer will talk about New Perennials, New Annuals, and New Shrubs and Trees. Each workshop will cost $25 and all three can be purchased for $60.

On Tuesday, February 4, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Blackhawk Technical College, 6004 W. County G, will hold a lecture called “Wellness in the Garden.” The topic will be how to garden as we get older and how to get children interested in the activity.

Starting at 9:00 am on February 5, The Walworth County Government Center, 100 W. Walroth St. Room 214, Elkhorn, will have Pesticide Application training. The event is geared to private pesticide applicator training and certification.

On February 15, Hyatt Smith Hall will again have three gardening workshops. This time the topics will include Landscape Maintenance, Combining Plants for texture and color, and Landscape Design basics. Mark Dwyer will be the instructor.

Gardeners will be back to Blackhawk Technical College for the Garden Plants – Tried and True lecture from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 18. This talk will discuss how to choose plants for the garden.
