Janesville will present its annual Jolly Jingle with three days of holiday activities including fireworks, parade, tree lighting, ice skating, and live theater.
Luminaries will be placed outside participating downtown businesses to indicate their participation in the Luminary Walk. These businesses will offer special holiday incentives such as special drinks and food, hot cocoa and cookies, celebrities and samples, and holiday activities such as caroling and sing-a-longs, live music, displays, interactive activities, and living statues in decked out holiday windows. Many participating employees will wear holiday costumes.
Locations around town will feature voting stations for guests to choose their favorite entry in the holiday postcard design competition. The Luminary Walk will take place December 2 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Until November 18, the parade committee will be accepting entries for the Janesville’s Jolly Jingle Parade. There is no fee to enter, and typically local groups provide walking units, floats, bands, choirs, and live animals.
Awards will be presented for Best Use of Lights, Most Spirit, Most Creative, Best Use of Theme, and Judge’s Choice.
The parade will begin at 6:00 pm, Saturday, December 3 at the Wall Street and N. Jackson Police Station and end on Racine Street. The tree lighting ceremony will be Friday, December 2 at 6:00 pm at the Marvin Roth Pavilion with fireworks at 6:40 pm in Library Park.
Towns that organize Christmas events like these often get poster printing done beforehand to get the word out.
