Janesville celebrates St. Patricks Day

Those in Janesville wishing to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day will have at least four options in the run-up to the big Irish celebration.

Four Irish performers will take to the stage at the Janesville Performing Arts Center, 408 S. Main Street, with their Irish Comedy Tour. The two comedians, Derek Rickards and Michael Malone, spin tales of their lives and debunk some Irish myths, while singer and comedian Derrick Keane and fiddle player Damon Leibert round out the evening.

Adult tickets will be $25 and student tickets will be $15. The Irish Comedy Tour will be March 10, beginning at 7:30 pm.

The Hedberg Public Library, 316 S Main Street will feature Veracity Dance Project of Janesville’s Irish dancers performing reels, jigs and slip jigs in the Program Room. Admission and parking will be free, and the event will take place March 16 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

On St. Patrick’s Day itself, Elks Lodge, 2100 N Washington Street, will be presenting its annual Irish Fest. Guests may enjoy an Irish buffet and live music performed by Three Pints Gone. Police and Fire Department Chaplaincy will receive the proceeds.

Irish Fest will take place from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Friday, March 17. Revelers attending events like these often wear the green three-leaf clover graphic design synonymous with Ireland.

Also on March 17, O’Riley & Conway’s Irish Pub, 214 W Milwaukee St., will celebrate with live music and food in its heated tent from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
