Janesville bicyclists ride for pie

Janesville Morning Rotary will be hosting its 18th Annual Pie Ride this month. Friends, families and co-workers are signing up to ride in the 20k, 50k, 100k, and 100 mile routes.

All the routes will be on running-type courses. The 20k route will have a family-friendly elevation gain of 19 feet and an elevation loss of 23 feet, the 50k will have a rougher 356 elevation gain and a 352 feet elevation loss, the 100k will have an even steeper 548 foot gain and a 532 loss and the 100 mile course will challenge riders with a grueling 920 foot gain and a 924 foot loss.

A cue sheet for each distance is available online. These sheets take the rider through the course, explaining the mile markers, turns, the high-quality rest stops and travel distances between each destination. SAG vehicles will be along the routes until 3:00 pm.

Food trucks will be at the end of the routes for runners to purchase lunch.

Long sleeve T-shirts ssporting the event’s graphic design will go to all riders, and each rider will receive a pie. Families who register as a team may receive up to two pies.

The 18th Annual Pie Ride will be Saturday, June 16 starting at Lions Beach, 1401 Palmer Drive. Registration begins at 6:00 am, the 100k and the Century rides begin at 6:30 am, and the 20k and 50k begin at 8:00 am.
