For a break in sending out Holiday Cards, locals do not have to go far to find a pleasant evening of seasonal music featuring two musical organizations from here in Rock County.
The Beloit Janesville Symphony will be presenting its annual BJSO Holiday Pops Concert called Ring in the Holidays this week. This year, the organization is featuring the Badger Chordhawks chorus. The program will be a collection of traditional carols and other crowd-pleasers.
Dr. Robert Tomaro will be directing the symphony and Christopher Smith will be directing the chorus. Jim Lyke will be narrating the poem ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.
The musical program will include favorites such as ‘Joy to the World’, ‘Winter Wonderland’, ‘Silent Night’, and ‘Sleigh Ride’. The orchestra will also play selections from the ‘Nutcracker’.
Badger Chordhawks are an all-male singing group that specializes in barbershop quartet style singing. This Rock Valley Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society has over 50 members dedicated to preserving barbershop harmony. Members come from as far away as Rockford, Illinois, and Madison, Wisconsin. Its performances include costuming and choreography.
The event is scheduled for December 22nd from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm at the Janesville Performing Arts Center, 408 S. Main Street here in Janesville. Adult tickets will be $15 and student tickets will be available for $5.
