Residents in Fitchburg will gather this spring for a community walk focused on inclusion and support for individuals on the autism spectrum.
Organized by the Autism Society of Wisconsin, the annual event draws participants from across the region. It centers on a one-mile walk along a paved route, designed to be accessible for all ages and abilities. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to connect with sponsors, take group photos, and prepare team materials before the walk begins. Participants may join individually or form teams. Groups of four or more are eligible to have their team names displayed on event shirts if registration is completed by the deadline of April 5.
Following the walk, organizers will provide food for attendees, creating additional opportunities for social interaction and community engagement. The event also supports fundraising efforts that benefit statewide programs offering resources, advocacy, and education for individuals affected by autism.
Registration fees are structured to encourage broad participation. Adult entry is listed at $20, while children ages 3 to 17 can attend for $10. Children under the age of two are admitted free of charge. A virtual participation option is also available for $10. Sponsorship tiers range from $500 to $5,000, with benefits including promotional visibility and complimentary registrations.
Events of this scale typically combine digital campaigns with traditional methods such as poster printing to reach a diverse audience.
The walk will take place on Sunday, April 19, beginning at 11:00 am at the McKee Farms Park, 2930 Chapel Valley Rd, Fitchburg.
