Two candidates left in race for county seat

Bill Norem, who is the incumbent in the race for the seat on the Walworth County Board, and Joseph H. Shaefer are through to the next round of polls.

The candidates are vying to represent the areas that lie to the west of Rochester and Burlington. The last round of voting was on February 18 and Ronald Person was eliminated from the race to take up a seat on County Board District 2.

If Norem wins, this will be his fifth term serving on the County Board. Meanwhile, this is Shaefer’s first foray into politics and he wants to take up a seat that his father, Joe Shaefer, held sometime in the past. Norem narrowly came out on top in the primary, with 463 votes being enough to beat Shaefer’s 460 votes. Person was only able to gain 302 votes. Only the top two candidates from that primary will advance to the next round of voting.

The next election is scheduled to take place on 7th April. Stationery printers can be used when printing ballots in specific sizes.

Norem is known in the area as a retired businessman, while Shaefer owns and runs an establishment in Downtown Lyons called Ye Olde Hotel Bar & Restaurant. The areas that are represented as a part of District 2 include the Town of Spring Prairie, Town of Troy, Town on Lyons and Town of Lafayette.
