What's Happening in Burlington, WI…

The Plan Commission in the City of Burlington has approved site plans to begin making improvements to the local school district. Most of the plans are upgrades to existing schools as well as building a new middle school. The money for these projects will be available thanks to a $43.7 million referendum which voters passed in November last year.

The new middle school being built will replace Karcher Middle School. The other site plans that were approved are for upgrades to Waller School, Cooper Elementary and Dyer Intermediate School. Printing services may well be enlisted to make locals aware of the ongoing works.

Most of the work being done at Waller School is in the parking lot. The plan is to resurface it completely then change the design to allow for more efficient traffic patterns and put in more pavement for pedestrians. The goal of these developments is to ease the flow of on-site traffic.

Replacing Karcher Middle School is expected cost $32.7 million. The new school will be built on the football field right next to where the current school sits. The parking lots and driveways will be restructured to fit well with the proposed new entrances.

Dyer Intermediate School will benefit from interior improvements and security upgrades. The school’s parking lot structure will be changed to allow separate collection and drop-off points for school buses and parents. A change in the parking lot’s structure will increase the number of parking spaces to 112, up from 96.

Majority of the work done at Cooper School will see the playing area upgraded.
