What's Happening in Burlington, WI…

A company has made the decision to move to Burlington, and expectations are that it will create well over a hundred jobs.

Applied Materials Solutions (AMS) both manufactures and combines de-foaming and anti-foam products, treated silicas, and a range of other chemicals for use in a variety of industries, including food processing, paint and coating manufacturing, pulp and paper, metalworking, and wastewater treatment. The silicas it creates are used in printing inks, paints, fire extinguishers, and even table salt.

According to the president of the company, though he cannot disclose any names, the manufacturing concern has some customers that are household names. The enterprise’s owner Jim Athans remarked that it has a long history and its staff have many years of experience. He hopes that the move to Burlington will allow it to grow and produce even more products.

For his part, Burlington’s Mayor Jeannie Hefty remarked that she is very pleased that that the business has chosen Burlington as the home for its new production facility. When a new manufacturing facility such as this moves into an area, it can often create spinoff benefits for a variety of other businesses, such as those that provide printing services

AMS is now active in its new location, and plans on adding many more employees over the next six months.
