The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) has issued a Community Investment grant that will be used on a plan to take what used to be the Standard Press building, and turn it into a taproom and brewery run by Burlington resident Tim Sullivan.
The total renovation costs have been put at $685,074, and the grant will be able to cover just over $150,000 of that bill. This is according to information made public by the Racine County Economic Development Corporation (RCEDC), which conducted the survey.
Laura Million from the RCEDC said that this will be the third grant that the CDI has given. The other two grants were for work being done at Mercantile Hall and at the Coffee House located at Chestnut and Pine.
The conditions laid out for the grant state that the WEDC will give the money to the city. The city will then hold the money and pay the developer for expenses incurred while developing the project. Million pointed out that the city will not keep any of the funds from the grant and it will not take on any costs associated with the project. Such information is often circulated on documents that bear official Letterheads.
Million also mentioned that the developer will be responsible for covering any auditing costs that come with the city’s performance report.
